Conscious Communication SLT is an independent Speech, Language, Communication and Behaviour Therapy service serving Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and Essex. We provide therapy and consultancy services for children with a full range of speech, language and communication needs, alongside specific specialist services for adults. We work 1:1 with individual children and families, undertake legal work on behalf of individuals and solicitors firms, as well as providing commissioned services to educational settings.
Job description
Conscious Communication are looking for a speech and language therapist to fill an exciting role covering a special school in the South Derbyshire area. This position will offer the right candidate an amazing opportunity to experience a range of responsibilities and develop new competencies within the fields of learning difficulties, ASD, ADHD, SEMH and additional needs. It will also support a method of working in which relationships are built, strategies are implemented, and outcomes are seen in meaningful and progressive ways over time.
You will be setting up a SALT provision within a SEN unit of a school, providing opportunities to establish professional relationships as a valued member of the school staff, and witness the long-term progression of the students and staff with whom you are working. This is an exciting opportunity to set up provision in an already well managed school ran by highly motivated and experienced teachers and teaching assistants. You will be the sole therapist providing a combination of consultative and directive approaches, including: specific staff training; communication walks; whole school language and emotional regulation strategies; parental training and engagement; 1:1 and group work with pupils; innovative AAC... and more.
This position would be best suited to a candidate with 2 years post-qualification experience, however exceptional NQTs that demonstrate a forward-thinking, creative approach, with the relevant work-experience background, will also be considered . Ideally, applicants should have experience with children with ASD and complex needs.
Excellent salary up to 56,000 pro rata (equivalent upper Band 7) dependent on experience.
The role is part time and is term-time only. Some work can be carried out remotely, however, you will be working directly within the school for part of each day.
