Location: Camphill Wakefield


Contract Type: Full time 37.5 hours per week, Term Time Only


Salary: SCP 26 - Actual 24, 869.81 per annum (52 week equivalent 28, 996.20)


Responsible to: Therapy Team Manager/Speech and Language Therapy Specialist



This is an exciting opportunity to join our therapy team at Camphill Wakefield. We are seeking a passionate Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated team. We are looking for a term time role working 5 days a week.

The role is suitable for newly qualified practitioners

. In this role, you will work closely with therapy team members, education colleagues and members of the wider multi-disciplinary team to provide person-centred, evidence-based input to our students. You will provide a vital role in supporting our students to access their curriculum, learning and environment.

Key Responsibilities



As our Speech and Language Therapist you will:

Provide clinically effective, person-centred, and evidence-based speech and language therapy, assessment and intervention to students at Camphill Wakefield.

Liaise with other departments to ensure that therapy is joined up and embedded in everything that we do.

Provide support and training to all staff about speech and language therapy, including training workshops and training specific to individual students and environments.

Support our "Inclusive Communication Environment", by embedding total communication strategies.

Support the impact of an integrated approach to therapy on the curriculum and show this through progress and distance travelled using individualised target setting.

What We're Looking For



Essential:



A degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy.

Current Health Care Professionals Council registration.

Knowledge of relevant assessments and interventions.

Use of initiative and clinical judgement.

A Commitment to Evidence Based Practice.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong interpersonal skills.

A reflective practitioner.

Strong organisational and time management skills.

Enthusiasm to work with young people to encourage learning and independence.

Understanding the needs of students with learning difficulties/disabilities and complex needs.

Understanding of health and safety and safeguarding within an education setting.

Desirable:



Registered member of RCSLT.

Experience of working in an education or SEND setting.

Knowledge and experience of assessments and interventions for people with learning disabilities/difficulties.

Knowledge and experience of a range of communication strategies including Makaton signing, Total Communication Environments and AAC.

Understanding of the roles of the wider multi-disciplinary team.
