Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Speech and Language Therapy Assistant looking for an exciting opportunity? We want you to join our team at Hunters Moor, our 33-bed, level 2 neurorehabilitation service.

Our patients include individuals with acquired and traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and complex neurological conditions. We provide seamless rehabilitation journeys from pre-admission planning to inpatient treatment and beyond, into coordinated community support.


As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with experienced Speech and Language Therapists, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Technicians, and more. Our patients benefit from a comprehensive care approach, including on-site doctors and a neuro-specialist team, featuring Specialist Nurses who provide ongoing neurological nursing care.

What you'll be working:




This role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

What you'll be doing:



Work safely and independently with patients by following treatment plans as delegated by a qualified Speech and Language Therapist Run SLT communication groups safely and independently including collecting the patients, following group exercise guidelines, providing motivation to the patients, and completing appropriate documentation Support effective communication with patients who have significant speech and language needs following guidance from the SLT team Support patients to access appropriate communication therapy tools electronically e.g., via an iPad app Participate in joint treatment sessions along with a Speech and Language Therapist, following their guidance to maximise the effectiveness of a patient's session Monitor patients' performance / progress, providing regular feedback to the Speech and Language Therapist, making recommendations for review when necessary Provide clear, accurate and timely documentation using both electronic and paper-based documentation systems Be responsible for stock control and ordering of commonly used Speech and Language Therapy items

What you'll have:



Educated to GCSE level/equivalent Previous experience working within the care sector A demonstrable interest in Speech and Language Therapy Excellent verbal and written communication skills Enthusiastic and passionate about helping others Ability to work well as part of a team Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
