Role Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity to grow our team and are looking to appoint a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to work within a variety of pathways within the service. These include working as part of the mainstream offer in schools and community clinics, Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres across Leeds and part of Traded offer within schools across Leeds. You will be working across the city supporting children, young people and their families as well as school staff. You will provide interventions, ongoing support, coaching and modelling sessions for children with Speech, Language and Communication needs (SLCN). You will work within a team of Speech and Language Therapy Assistants and alongside Speech and Language Therapists.

Full-time (37.5 hours) / part-time position considered. Car driver essential.
You will support Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) in their work with pre-school and school aged children with Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). This post will involve direct work with children and families to develop the child's communication skills both individually and in groups (under the supervision of an SLT), making resources, keeping records, and other administrative tasks. You will work with Teachers, Teaching Assistants, as well as working closely with parents/carers in a community clinics/schools and Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres.
You will:
Be a highly motivated person looking for a challenging and rewarding clinical and administrative role within a busy NHS environment.
Have proven experience of working with children with a wide range of SLCN.
Have a qualification linked to childcare and preferably attended Speech and Language training or experience.
Have excellent communication skills.
Be reliable, friendly and approachable.
Be someone who works well within a team but who also works autonomously and independently.
There is a strong management/peer support structure including access to regular clinical and safeguarding supervision and a wide range of opportunities for CPD (Continuing Professional Development). You will have access to a high level of support from other SLT assistants, SLT colleagues, Clinical Leads and the CSLT leadership team.
