Job Description

The BHFT Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy team have an exciting opportunity for a full-time developing band 5/6s to work in our service. We are based across East and West Berkshire, your base will be determined by service need and can be flexible, though occasionally need you to work at other sites or attend meetings within the locality -

both East and West Berkshire.



We are looking for someone who is either an NQP or a qualified Band 5 or Band 6 clinician with experience, motivation and a desire to be part of a growing and enthusiastic team. For newly qualified staff, you will work your way through our Preceptorship programme over the first year of employment which will help you make this transition and consolidate all the skills and knowledge gained throughout your training. Following this we will support you to ensure you develop skills and complete necessary NQP and Band 6 competencies to move into a band 6 role within the team.



It is a completely adult caseload and fully supported by experienced SLT's. You will be closely supported to sign off your NQP and dysphagia competencies, and eventually move on to completing Band 6 competencies. We encourage our team to engage in regular CPD,

and LVST training is offered in the first year



Working with clients with acquired disorders -eg PD Stroke



To provide advice to clients/carers regarding the management and care of communication and swallowing difficulties.



Using online record systems (RiO) to document notes and reports

Group and 1-1 working with clients



Actively participate in team meetings, CPD and peer supervision Work flexibly in response to service need across multiple sites



Liaise with the team for support on a day-to-day basis



Provide a service in all community settings including Out-patients clinics, home visits, nursing homes and telehealth

The must haves to be considered for this role:



Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree



Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered



Previous experience working with/interest in and commitment to working with adults with acquired neurological conditions Ability to travel to multiple sits - must be a car drive with access to own vehicle
