The job in a nutshell



To manage, operate and develop BB&R's London Spirits Shop retail operation, a focal point for BB&R's enhanced spirits offering for customers and the producers we work with. To deliver remarkable customer experiences coupled with a strong commercial performance to meet ambitious sales targets. To elevate and maintain the Spirits Shop team so that they drive the highest standards of prestige retail whilst actively shaping BB&R's future retail strategy moving forward.

A wide and varied role, ranging from active front-line customer service (including high net worth customers), executive meetings regarding commercial performance and marketing.

What you will do



General



Lead ambassador and public face for the Spirits Shop, bringing the space to life, embodying our brand values of passion and integrity, and inspiring the shop team members to be ambassadors too Create and deliver remarkable customer experiences on the shop floor and at events for a broad church of clients by setting and maintaining the highest standards of customer service Maximise retail profit by driving sales & margin whilst controlling running costs Identify and hire outstanding talent when required whilst managing, mentoring and developing the existing team Maintain a tidy and safe working environment both front and back of house

Sales & Marketing



To promote, sell and control the resources of the Spirits Shop and to achieve or better budgeted revenue, cost and profit targets Actively contribute to a retail marketing strategy combining, but not limited to, range, pricing, sales, promotional planning and events working with Brands (especially the Buyer and Spirits Commercial Executive) where appropriate in support of premium products from the Berry Bros & Rudd Own Selection range and other producers/suppliers Work with Marketing to acquire and retain shop customers such as through the scheduling of events throughout the year strategically designed to bring in more customers, revenue and to maximise revenue from supplier-paid windows and instore displays Introduce Spirits Shop customers to other parts of the BB&R business Build relationships with local businesses as appropriate for event collaborations etc

Operations & Administration



Consistently provide and offer professional, friendly and engaged service to customers and colleagues Be an available presence on the shop floor, supporting colleagues and customers to identify or resolve issues. Resolve customer complaints in a prompt and pleasant manner and retain customer loyalty through effective problem-solving skills Effectively allocate duties and delegate work within the shop, monitoring progress to ensure tasks are correctly implemented Direct day-to-day management of all shop operations including sales, stock management and wastage control; ensure appropriate systems are in place to maintain staff safety and stock security Ensure all display pricing is correct and reflect appropriate margins Host events in the shop and externally either as Spirits shop standalone events or in collaboration with Events & Experiences, Brands or external collaborators (e.g., producers, businesses) Ensure regular and timely reporting into the UK Shops Manager on sales, marketing and operational matters

What you will bring to the role



Experience / Achievements



WSET Spirits (desirable) or other equivalent qualifications A thorough knowledge and expertise in spirits and the industry Experience of working in a fast-paced spirits retail sales capacity Experience of working with high-net-worth customers and in luxury retail Leadership capability and experience

Passion and expertise for spirits and strong willingness to share that passion with colleagues and customers Organised and efficient attitude to work that is open to flexibility according to business needs, for example with hours and additional duties Assertive, professional and positive with a proven ability to develop, lead and motivate a team. The ability to inspire and influence others Offer a commercial mindset and the ability to instil this in others Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; able to quickly build rapport with customers with tact and diplomacy Composed under pressure - a proactive problem-solver Tech-literate: familiar with both retail and business reporting systems (e.g., POS, SAP)
