YMCA Manchester is looking for a passionate Sport and Fitness Tutor to deliver Level 1/2 qualifications (with potential for Entry Level based on need).
Salary: 20,000 - 28,000 per annum
Working Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Location: Based at Castlefield Hotel, Liverpool Road, Manchester, M3 4JR
Holiday: 33 days including bank holidays

YMCA Manchester has a proud 200-year history in the city. We operate a sports and fitness centre (The Y Club) and a subsidiary company, the Castlefield Hotel, on the same site. Our youth and community programmes advocate for some of the most vulnerable and marginalised individuals in the region. We continually pilot innovative projects that engage young people and communities in personal development, sport, and wellbeing.
Develop and deliver a sports-based curriculum that promotes grade-level standards
Ensure all teaching aligns with qualification board requirements
Adhere to YMCA's safeguarding policy and practices
Monitor and document student participation and progress
Create engaging resources and lessons, addressing a range of learning styles with an emphasis on active engagement and student-led learning
Manage student portfolios and assess work in line with internal marking policy and awarding body standards
Communicate regularly with YMCA and partner school staff about student progress and behaviour
Provide pastoral support to students, acting as a positive role model
Maintain a safe, tidy and respectful learning and sports environment
Support students to model appropriate conduct with staff, guests, and members of the public
Person Specification
Education and Training
Essential:
Recognised sports coaching qualifications, including any of the following:
Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Sport (e.g. Football, Basketball, Rugby, etc.)* Level 2 Gym Instructing (Active IQ or equivalent)* Level 2 Community Sports Leadership Award (CSLA)* UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) at Level 2 or above* A discipline-specific qualification at or above the level being taught, plus relevant industry experience
Level 2/GCSE English and Maths (grade C/4 or above)
Desirable:
Internal Verification Award (e.g. V1)
Level 3 Personal Training qualification
Assessor Awards D32/33 or A1/2
Level 4 or above teaching qualification (e.g. CertEd, PGCE)
Registration with REPs, CIMSPA, or other professional sports body
Work Experience
Essential:
Minimum of 2 years' experience working in the sport or fitness industry
Experience working with young people, in a teaching, mentoring, or coaching role
Experience working with vulnerable young people
Experience planning learning or training activities for young people
Desirable:
Experience teaching and assessing vocational qualifications (e.g. NCFE, City & Guilds, BTEC Sport)
Skills and Knowledge

Competence using IT for planning, delivery, and assessment
