THE HUNSLET CLUB - Sports & Public Services Tutor - The role is term time only across 40 weeks (the salary range will be pro-rata based on a 0.7 contract). You will have 12 weeks holiday per year!
We are looking for:
A) a knowledgeable and dedicated member of staff to join our expanding education team!
B) an enthusiastic sports coach and/or public services professional who is looking for a career change - we will pay/support with your teaching qualifications!
The successful candidates will be delivering on the new 14-16 Vocational
Development Programme, which supports learners in achieving vocational qualifications at Level 1 in either an Award or a Certificate. This role will focus on delivering the Pearson Level 1 Introductory Award in Sport and the Pearson Level 1 Introductory Award in Public Services.

Role
To deliver accredited vocational training courses whilst assessing, teaching and ensuring the development of leaner's skills in Sport & Public Services.
Management Supervision and Guidance
You will be responsible to the Teaching, Mentoring & Creative Arts Manager for your daily tasks and duties, and the Business and Education Manager (BEM) for any other matters.
Duties and responsibilities:
Tutoring
To deliver high quality teaching and learning to all students through practical instruction and vocational experience in Sport & Public Service skills
Complete accurate registers on a daily basis including monitoring of punctuality
Plan, prepare and develop effective lesson plans and schemes of learning within pre-set deadlines
Ensure content of courses is compliant with the criteria defined by the relevant Awarding Body
Devise and adapt assessment tasks in accordance with the course criteria to benefit the students
Assess individual student progress using effective tracking mechanisms and completing relevant documentation to evidence
Present feedback of student progress at review meetings identifying concerns where shortfalls may occur and suggest contingency plans to address
Devise individual student portfolios to evidence learning, assessment and achievement
Ensure completed course work/student reports are submitted with pre-set deadlines
Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression
Ensure students achieve the vocational qualifications in line with Club targets/KPIs.
Quality Assurance
Maintain and update knowledge of the vocation / subject area
Maintain and update knowledge of educational research and development
Cross reference work against required standards set by the awarding body
Carry out internal verification duties in line with quality assurance processes
Liase with the Accreditation/Examination Officer to provide sample course work for internal verification as required and within deadline.
Behavioural Management
Supervise students during lessons and breaks. Monitor students at all times and ensure all breaks are taken as determined in the vocational development timetable
Report immediately any accidents (to the Education & Youth Development Manager and First Aider) and ensure a written report is submitted
Report immediately any incidents in your designated area (to the Education & Youth Development Manager). Reportable incidents include inappropriate behaviour of students towards each other, other members of staff or behaviour aimed to bully anyone on the Club's premises. Violent behaviour that could result in hurting anyone on the Club's premises
Report the use of drugs and substance misuse including any such activity when you have suspicion a learner is under the influence of drugs or other substances
Use the Club's Walkie- Talkie system effectively to communicate with all staff as appropriate
Offer emotional support to students when needed.
Work area Management
Ensure the work area is a safe, secure environment for students and support staff to work in
Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Ensure the work area is kept tidy at all times. Encourage students to assist with cleaning their work space after each lesson
Ensure materials required to deliver sessions are ordered in good time and within budget
To ensure effective communications within and between tutor teams, line management and the BEM. To be involved in and participate in meetings and team briefings as required.
General
Comply with all safeguarding procedures, including the promotion of the welfare of children
To undertake necessary in-house training and address any training needs identified through the appraisal process
Have an awareness of club priorities, activities and membership needs
Contribute to the wider life of The Hunslet Club
Adhere to the Club's organisations policies and procedures at all times
Undertake any other duties as appropriate to the post or which may from time to time be reasonably determined by the BEM, Operations Manager or Chief Executive Officer
Participate in student recruitment activities and open events.
The Hunslet Club reserve the right to vary or amend the duties and responsibilities of the post holder at any time in accordance to the needs of the business
