We currently have an exciting opportunity for Sports and Learning Mentor

to join our fantastic team at Chorlton High School.



This is a Grade 4, permanent post working 35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The starting salary is 22,005 and the full time equivalent is

25,584 per annum.



We're looking for:



We are looking for applicants with experience working in 11-16 phase and supporting pupils with additional needs to provide pastoral and behaviour guidance and support. You will need to have good working knowledge and understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes and barriers to learning, including behaviour management strategies. You will ideally have experience of providing mentoring support to young people and excellent numeracy and literacy skills, qualified to level 2 or equivalent/higher.

Main purpose of the job:



As a Sports and Learning mentor you will deliver interventions to groups and individuals across the school, working closely with teachers to address the needs of identified children with SEND, both inside and outside the classroom. This will include working through sports and outdoor activities to provide support in addressing the needs of pupils who require particular help to overcome barriers to learning


Key responsibilities include:

Deliver targeted support, including physical and outdoor activities, to support student engagement. Participate in the comprehensive assessment of pupils to determine those in need of particular help. Assist teachers with the development and implementation of individual Education/Behaviour/Support/Mentoring plans. Under the direction of the teacher prepare the classroom or outside learning space for lessons as appropriate. Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies. Implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses/needs, including assessment. Be aware of and appreciate a range of activities, courses, organisations, agencies and individuals to provide support for pupils to broaden and enrich their learning.
