Job Description

St. Osmund's C.E. Middle School is an over-subscribed Middle School for Years 5 - 8, located in the thriving county town of Dorchester. The school is proud to be an early joiner of the Wessex Multi Academy Trust and is Ofsted Good in all areas (2022).



We require a centre assistant to oversee the evening, weekend and school holiday bookings at the St Osmund's Community Sports Centre. We are looking for someone who is community orientated and has an interest in sport. The role will include meeting and greeting customers, confirming bookings, setting up the equipment prior to hires, as well as packing away equipment, cleaning the centre and locking up at the end of the evening. There is an element of lone working within this role, completion of paperwork, creation of invoices and handling cash.



The main opening hours are 5-10pm Monday to Friday, with some weekend and school holiday hours also available. Flexibility in approach to hours worked will be essential as the centre is open seven days per week. Hours will be allocated on a rota basis with our other staff members.

Keeping Children Safe in Education



The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
