Overview


As the charitable arm of Harrogate Town AFC, the Community Foundation are seeking dedicated and experienced Sports Coaches to join our supportive team. Using the power of football to make a difference in our local community, we deliver many impactful projects across Harrogate and the wider area.

Our delivery includes a wide range of school programmes (PPA cover, Premier League Primary Stars and after school clubs) we also cover nurseries and secondary schools. Our inclusion projects, such as walking football, Premier League Kicks and other targeted programmes to support mental health and isolation are a big part of of our delivery. Experience in any of the above areas would be advantageous.

As a community football foundation, there is also the exciting option to work as part of our match day delivery team when Harrogate Town are at home, along with working on our holiday camps. Our participants range from 2-92 years old and the ideal candidate will be committed to having a positive impact within the community and have a proven track record of planning and delivering high quality sessions.

With the nature of our programmes, this role involves working closely with both children and adults.

Hours



Our programme of delivery is over 7 days, which covers daytime, evenings and weekends; candidates will be required to be flexible with working hours. This will be discussed at interview.

Duties



Plan and deliver sessions which meet the needs of individual participants or groups. Sessions could be in a school, youth club or community setting depending on experience and deployment. Foster positive relationships in the community, encouraging participation in activities. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach within our programmes. Monitor and record the progress of participants, providing feedback and support as needed. Facilitate group activities that promote teamwork and social skills. Assist in creating a safe environment by adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures. Delivering physical activity sessions including but not limited to football coaching to community groups.

Requirements



Experience within sports coaching, teaching or youth work is essential along with relevant supporting qualifications. Strong people skills with the ability to inspire and motivate. Knowledge of special educational needs and experience working with children/adults who require additional support is advantageous. Strong behaviour management skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with young people and their families. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.

Essentials



Must own or have access to a car. Must have a DBS, and be willing to go through our own DBS checks along with providing references from previous employment. Must have as a minimum, level 1 qualifications, ideally level 2 or above. Must have relevant experience and qualifications linked to this position.
