Sports Mentor
Job Description
At WSE Academy we provide alternative education provision for KS3 learners, who through social, emotional or behavioural difficulties are unable to access or are unsuited to mainstream education.
As a Sports Mentor you will be supporting the Tutor working with small groups, supporting both classroom and practical sports sessions within our onsite facilities; guiding learners to develop confidence, self esteem, resilience and positive coping strategies to emotional triggers.
In addition, you will be supporting learners to improve their attendance, punctuality and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on social skills.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
To deliver daily activities to promote and enhance learner knowledge. Implement positive behavioural strategies. Deliver practical sessions (including sports and gym based sessions) Support learners to realise their academic potential. Supporting pupils within a mentoring capacity both in and out of the classroom environment You'll take an active role in prompting and guiding discussions.
Qualification/Experience
Sports Coaching Experience Experience working with challenging behaviour. Two years' experience working with young people within a sport, education, or youth work setting.
Candidates will be subject to a DBS enhanced check
Working hours are Monday & Tuesday, 9.30-2.30pm
