Part Time / 18.5 Hours Per Week / Permanent



Play a key role in keeping Leicester's parks safe, clean and accessible for community sport.



Become a pivotal part of our Parks Services team within Neighbourhood & Environmental Services, helping support healthy, active lifestyles across the city by maintaining access to outdoor sports facilities in parks and open spaces. Joining a small but dedicated and supportive team led by the Senior Parks Rangers, you'll work independently across city parks to open and maintain weekend access to sports pavilions and pitches. In addition, you'll help ensure our facilities are safe, clean, secure and welcoming for the public.



This is a part-time, permanent post working 18.5 hours on a rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays. You'll be based out of Abbey Park however you'll be required to travel across the city to undertake site visits at various parks.



What you'll be doing





As a Sport on Parks Facilities Assistant, your main responsibility will be enabling weekend access to our sports facilities. It's important that all sports facilities are safe, clean, secure and welcoming for the public so occasional cleaning tasks and ensuring all safety protocols are followed will fall under your domain. Through regular visual inspections, you'll report faults, ensure site security works to a satisfactory level and complete basic maintenance tasks such as, resetting thermostats, mopping leaks and replacing locks. In addition, you'll also open and lock changing rooms and pavilions based on a booking/fixture schedule.



Within this customer facing role not one day will be the same. As part of your role, you'll drive an allocated council vehicle for transportation to various parks. Always representing the council with professionalism, you'll liaise with contractors and facility users to provide basic information and guidance.



What you'll need





We're looking for someone with experience in caretaking, maintenance and/or securing buildings. You should be comfortable working independently, have good interpersonal skills, and be committed to delivering excellent customer service. With a basic understanding of health & safety and risk management, you'll ensure the safety of those using the facilities and those working there. Through using your own initiative you'll identify minor repairs that you can carry out yourself and liaise with others on those you can't. Basic IT skills is required for you to email, report faults and access schedules.



Due to the nature of this role you must hold a full manual UK driving license and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. As shift schedules rotate you must be flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends.
