Job Summary



We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Analyst with a strong specialisation in SQL to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in creating, amending, and executing complex SQL scripts within a Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) environment. This role is pivotal in transforming raw data into actionable insights for our clients. You will be responsible for not only the deep technical aspects of data manipulation and optimisation but also for collaborating closely with clients to understand and define their requirements during project planning phases.

Key Responsibilities



SQL Development:

Design, develop, and maintain robust and efficient SQL scripts, stored procedures, and functions to support data analysis and reporting needs.

Query Optimisation:

Analyse and tune existing SQL queries to improve performance and ensure scalability.

Data Manipulation:

Extract, transform, and load data from various sources into our data warehouses, ensuring data quality and integrity.

Requirement Gathering:

Work directly with clients and internal stakeholders to understand their business needs, gather requirements, and translate them into technical specifications.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

Execute SQL scripts to extract and analyse data, providing insights and reports to support business decisions.

Database Management:

Assist in database maintenance tasks, including indexing, data validation, and ensuring data accuracy.

Documentation:

Create and maintain clear and concise documentation for all SQL scripts, processes, and data models.

Essential Skills & Qualifications



Proven experience working as a Data Analyst, Database Developer, or in a similar role with a heavy focus on SQL. Expert-level proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, and window functions. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), including its architecture and performance tuning techniques. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, especially clients. A meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Desirable Skills



Experience with programming or scripting languages such as C# or PowerShell for automating data processing tasks and building data pipelines. Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI). Knowledge of ETL processes and tools. A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related experience.

Pay: 35,000.00-45,000.00 per year
