Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead to oversee and manage the commercial and contractual aspects of a major project. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the efficient management, preparation, and issue of accurate contractual notices, correspondence, and cost reporting in compliance with company procedures and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
Contract & Commercial Management
Lead and develop efficient and compliant management of contract notices, correspondence, and documentation.
Identify and communicate contractual and commercial risks and opportunities to the Project Director/Manager.
Maintain registers for variations, delays, extensions of time, and claims.
Ensure effective implementation of the company's commercial policies and procedures.
Cost & Value Management
Assist in preparing monthly progress valuations and claims for completed work.
Produce detailed monthly cost reports, forecasts, and contract budget reports.
Support value management exercises and provide advice on risk management.
Monitor and control change management processes and maintain accurate cost control.
Subcontractor Management
Prepare, review, and issue subcontract documentation.
Manage subcontracts from order placement through to final account.
Prepare and agree interim applications for payment and final accounts with subcontractors.
Monitor subcontract procurement plans, analyse commercial comparisons, and produce award letters.
Client & Stakeholder Liaison
Liaise with the employer's commercial and client teams on key contractual and financial matters.
Support pre-contract tender negotiations and produce reports as required.
Monitor main contract changes, assist with Change Reports and Value Change Report Forms.
Procurement & Reporting
Maintain and update procurement plans and reconcile weekly plant, materials, and labour costs against budgets.
Prepare requisitions and ensure timely and accurate commercial reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, or ICE) preferred.
Proven experience in commercial management and contract administration within a relevant sector (construction, infrastructure, or civil engineering).
Strong understanding of contract law, risk management, and cost control.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
High level of IT literacy with proficiency in MS Excel and commercial reporting tools.
