Sr Director, External Clinical Research Lead

Job Description

Leads a global team accountable for multiple clinical/translational studies run by external partners Responsible for all aspects of the study, from liaison with external partners / organizing data reviews, monitoring resources and budget, investment decisions, presentations to AZ internal stakeholders Point of contact for specific externally run studies and for external partner sites. Responsible for delivery of study data to AZ from external partner. Owns data driven decisions based on continuous data monitoring Responsible for project development strategy and for integrating externally derived datasets into the Early Oncology portfolio pf projects. Responsible for AZ team effectiveness and for integrating external collaborators within the team. Represents AstraZeneca in external meetings such as advisory boards and Investigator meetings for own studies. Providing critical supports/ organizing regular reviews of data and progress. Where required, lead project specific reviews of the competitor landscape to inform the program strategy. Develop and build investigator and site relationships to support site/study specific activities. Leads investigator/site relationships for clinical proposal reviews, scientific oversight.

Essential

Graduate degree such as a PhD or an MD/PhD Demonstrated success in developing oncology agents. Industry experience in drug development including experience in early phase non-clinical and/or clinical drug development and regulatory knowledge. Strong knowledge and understanding of the Oncology therapeutic area with experience in diverse biological mechanisms. Broad understanding of the evolving clinical landscape in oncology. Demonstrated experience leading and motivating teams in a highly matrixed environment. Proven record of cultivating and managing internal and external cross-functional collaborations. Demonstrated success in influencing colleagues and senior leaders in various departments. Knowledge of drug discovery and themes underpinning current Early Oncology portfolio priorities. Ability to provide direct scientific and clinical input into studies. Ability to utilizes internal AZ network to leverage different functional/technical skills to enable smooth and efficient study timelines. Must demonstrate high integrity.

Experience working with external partners such as academic institutions * Expertise in the fundamental scientific principles and translational sciences in Oncology
