Manages all activities for a large group of businesses or specialized audit group (e.g., regulatory focused Technology Audit, Programming, Credit, Modeling). Directly responsible for information regarding the quality and effectiveness of risk management and internal controls going to Executive management and the Board of Directors. Develops and maintains executive management and regulatory relationships. Responsible for the quality of their group's work and the implementation of divisional initiatives and goals. Act as agent to the Deputy Chief Auditor in leading the department's management team in the planning and mapping of corporate-wide audit planning and strategy. Translates a strategic view into an appropriate Audit Universe/Risk Assessment and Audit Plan that prioritizes efforts appropriately. Assesses and develops resources, taking into consideration broad human resource goals (diversity, succession planning), training and development, timely feedback. Manages assigned/limited resources to complete the Audit Plan with appropriate coverage of key risks. Demonstrates subject matter (specialty) expertise, specialized knowledge of multiple areas of the corporation, and/or provides global coverage. Manages senior management relationships and provides advice. Maintains relationships with the Executive Management Group and departmental managers to provide an early warning system for risk identification and the department's ongoing management of risks and broad solutions to control themes. Schedules regular meetings with the Executive Management Group and departmental managers to be informed about the ongoing business of the department and the future direction of the business. Fosters an environment of no surprises to senior management. Meets regularly with the OCC, FRB and other regulators as appropriate so that senior management can be informed of upcoming issues and concerns. Maintain close ongoing contact with the external auditors from KPMG, assisting them in their audit work as necessary.Provides knowledge sharing and support of intellectual capital in a specialized technical area within audit groups or across the department. Participates in cross-governance relationships and activities. Maintains relationships with other governance areas, regulators, and external auditors. Works in partnership with other Audit management members to share knowledge, assistance, and staff development across groups. Serves as expert resource. Monitors business, regulatory and financial developments and related risks for multiple lines of business. Understands business strategies, processes and regulations effectively and quickly, and develops Audit recommendations. Develops relationships with senior management of business or governance groups, regulators, and external auditors, as well as with Audit division management. Builds and maintains key client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor in enhancing the control environment and operational efficiency. Solves the most complex problems with flexible, creative solutions while managing multiple major initiatives simultaneously. Prioritizes workflows. Investigates unexpected situations, providing comprehensive analysis and resolution.Manages teams of other managers to include financial and human resources management. Provides work guidance, performance feedback, and career management advice, motivating employees to achieve functional objectives. Significantly contributes to the strategic direction of the function, providing key insights and recommendations to the Chief Auditor.Responsible for the achievement of audit goals and objectives for a large region or key business(es), and possibly globally. Has a direct impact on the achievement of overall functional objectives. Audit findings issued by incumbent may have a significant impact to the financial or operational position of the assigned geography or business. Degree in accounting, finance, or relevant specialty preferred. MBA, CPA, CFA or related certifications preferred. Modelers - Advanced degree (PhD) in Math, Statistics, Physics, Economics or Engineering preferred. 15+ years of total work experience, with 5-7 years of management experience, preferred. Prior experience in a mid to high level managerial role in Audit preferred.
