Job Duties

Under broad direction, delivers key technologies to the overall technical software testing environment. The expertise may include functional understanding of business development and well site delivery mechanisms. Using an understanding of the technological advances in both the software industry and in the oil and gas industry this person will challenge the technical software delivery process to deliver fit for purpose software in a more timely manner. Experience in leading software testing projects especially at the integration level and may provide Technical Excellence Leadership for more than one team, providing expert guidance to software developers and support staff. Provides guidance to staff on secure architecture design reviews and advises on preparing applications for security testing. Provides a strong technical focus in product planning for a complete software system. Job role contributes directly to value creation. Skills typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering or similar discipline, and 10+ years of related experience or through 14+ years of software testing and/or development experience. Completion of a masters degree is preferred.


Responsibilities include:

Estimation of software testing efforts based on technical specifications Providing input to improve product effectiveness, integration and usability Creating, documenting, and executing software tests for the acceptance of new feature functionality Execution and management of the manual regression test suite Identification of software defects and usability issues in the development and stability cycles of the software Validating defect fixes Managing the automation backlog for the product; working with automation engineers to improve auto test coverage Creating synthetic data and organizing client project data within the OpenWorks/Oracle database Designing and executing tests which measure the performance of the software given varying hardware specifications Measuring and reporting stability of the product via test suite results and defect inflow/outflow Identifying and escalating project risks

Qualifications & Experience

Required Education and Skills

BS or MS in Geology, Geophysics, Computer Science or related Engineering discipline 14+ years' experience testing enterprise software or related domain experience Proficient with both Windows and Linux platforms Must be self-motivated but be able to work well in a distributed team environment Team player: willing to coach junior team members and cooperate on cross-functional problem solving Good written and verbal skills

Desired Experience

Previous experience with Landmark's suite of products Knowledge of Azure DevOps for defect reporting and test case creation/execution OpenWorks/Oracle project data management Familiarity with CI/CD principles and tools technologies; i.e. GitLab Working in an Agile development environment Advanced awareness and understanding of AI technologies/tools Familiarity and understanding of modern cloud technologies and microservices

Must be in or around Abingdon, UK. Position is for a Hybrid work schedule
