About the role:



A vacancy has arisen for an SRA Supervisor within our Blood Sciences, Sample Reception Department based at Lister Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Sample Reception Area, ensuring that all specimens are received, processed, and prepared in line with established laboratory protocols and quality standards. This will include supervising staff performing routine preparation and tests, monitoring workflow, and ensuring that analytical and pre-analytical processes are carried out accurately and efficiently. The post-holder will be expected to identify and escalate unusual test requests, discrepancies, or results to the appropriate senior staff.

Key duties will include supervising and supporting staff with entering patient requests into the laboratory information systems (WinPath and Helix), ensuring compliance with sample handling procedures, and maintaining high standards of clerical and technical practice. The SRA Supervisor will also take responsibility for coordinating the handling and distribution of incoming and outgoing goods, specimens, reagents, and equipment, as well as overseeing the operation of the laboratory users' Helpdesk.

As the department operates a 24/7 service, the post-holder will be expected to assist in staff rota planning to ensure adequate cover across all shifts. The role will also involve participation in core and late shift working arrangements, including occasional weekend duties.
