Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our family run horse stud and kennels. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of our animals, providing exceptional care and support within a busy environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal care and looking to develop their skills within the equine sector.

Duties

Assist with the daily cleaning and sanitisation of kennels and surrounding areas to maintain a hygienic environment Feed and water animals according to prescribed schedules and dietary requirements Monitor animals for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to higher staff promptly Provide gentle handling and comfort to animals. Maintainence of animal living areas including mucking out keeping beds sanitised. Maintain accurate records of animal care activities and daily observations Assist with loading and unloading animals during transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary Ensure all equipment is clean, functional, and stored appropriately

Requirements

Previous experience in care or animal handling is highly desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates Genuine passion for animal welfare and care Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with visiting pet owners and team members Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required, including moving animals or equipment Organised, reliable, with attention to detail in all aspects of animal care and hygiene Willingness to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within the kennel setting
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 45 per week
