We're looking for an experienced Engineer to join our expanding Mobile Engineering team. In this leadership role, you'll not only apply your strong technical expertise to contribute directly to the team's work, but also guide and mentor fellow engineers to drive successful outcomes. You'll play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of our application design, while identifying opportunities to align and standardise practices across adjacent teams--ensuring we consistently deliver high-quality, high-value software to our customers.
What you'll be doing:
Championing best practices across engineering teams, identifying opportunities to promote technically sound and scalable solutions that drive efficient and effective customer outcomes
Serving as a Technical Authority, applying creative problem-solving to transform complex requirements into elegant, maintainable software. Collaborating closely with Solutions Architects to ensure solutions are fit for purpose, deliver meaningful business value, meet quality standards, and align with established engineering principles
Shaping the strategy for managing technical debt, guiding the team to maintain secure, resilient, and reliable systems that support Legal & General's long-term technology goals
Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging regular reflection and adaptation to enhance team effectiveness, productivity, and overall satisfaction
Building a collaborative and inclusive team environment, mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers to grow their skills. Promoting open communication and teamwork to ensure smooth and timely delivery within sprint cycles
Leading the Developer Community, helping define and uphold software development standards that meet security, compliance, and audit requirements--while enabling fast, efficient delivery of high-quality software
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
Proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript, with a deep understanding of React and its core principles.
Experienced in building RESTful microservices using JVM-based frameworks like Spring or Node.js.
Strong grasp of mobile application architecture patterns, including MVP, MVVM, and Flux.
Well-versed in clean code and architectural best practices, such as SOLID principles, Onion Architecture, Hexagonal Architecture, and n-Tier design.
Hands-on experience with React Native, with at least two years of development on a large-scale commercial project.
Familiar with modern technologies including GraphQL, AWS Cloud Services, and Docker.
Solid understanding of security best practices across web, API, and mobile platforms.
Knowledgeable in mobile performance optimization, with a focus on delivering smooth, responsive user experiences.
