This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified or newly qualified Nurse, dedicated to mental health recovery, to join a forward-thinking patient centred service that is dedicated to staff development to provide the highest quality of care.
The Chichester Centre is a modern unit providing low secure services across 3 wards. Each ward has a well-established MDT led by a ward manager. We have a working together group (WTG) which meets fortnightly and includes service user representatives from each ward as well as staff. The WTG take a lead on service improvement across the unit.
You will have opportunities to gain skills and experience across our three different settings. As a nurse, you will work in collaboration with other professionals within the MDT and external agencies in a patient centred way. We work to the principles of the "Secure Recovery Model" and the "See Think Act" (Royal College of Psychiatrists publication) in collaboration with the peer support programme.
To deliver a high standard of evidence based inpatient nursing care in the designated care group in partnership with the team, the service users and, where appropriate, their family.
To act as a primary nurse in the assessment of needs and organising of care.
To co-ordinate shifts and provide supervision for support workers and students.
To work within a team of nurses and other professionals who are committed to the delivery of a quality service.
To adopt a flexible approach to hours of duty, in order to meet the needs of the service over a 24-hour period.
To take charge of a designated clinical area and deputise as appropriate.
To represent the Ward Manager and/or care team, at appropriate forums and disseminate information as required.
To represent the clinical team perspective at multidisciplinary meetings and clinical reviews of patient care.
To be an active participant in the multi-disciplinary team, formulating care plans and utilising appropriate assessments.
Forensic mental health is a unique and fascinating field which provides both challenge and opportunity in abundance.
Being curious, creative, self-aware and assertive are important skills that you will build on, as you are often required to think 'outside the box'.
We play a crucial part in supporting and advocating service users towards recovery, while maintaining the legal requirements within the MHA and of public protection.
