Job Description

We are looking to recruit Staff Nurses who would like to work in a busy, dynamic and friendly Ambulatory care unit providing Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).



Post 1:

Full time 37.5 hpw, Permanent



Post 2:

Full time 37.5 hpw , Fixed term 12 months to cover maternity leave



Within Ambulatory care (SDEC) we care for both medical and surgical patients. We deliver care to patients with planned appointments and also patients that have been referred from various services such as the front door streaming service, emergency department, GP and urgent treatment centre.



The successful candidates will be expected to work within a dynamic nursing team. Similar experience is desirable but not essential, the unit has multiple learning opportunities.



The unit is open 7 days a week 07:30- 22:00. There are a variety of different working patterns including day shifts, weekends and bank holidays.

To deliver same day emergency care to all patients. This will involve triaging, assessing and caring for patients. Tasks include history taking, requesting bloods, venepuncture, cannulation, ECG's and various other clinical tasks.



Other duties of the role will include administration of medication's, pre and post-operative care and utilising services such as virtual ward.



We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a part of the multi disciplinary under the direction of the Ward Manager. and in their absence.



To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.



To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
