Job overview
Urology Centre
Develop your nursing experience working with a friendly, professional and encouraging team who are focused on delivering a high quality urology service.
The Urology Centre is a modern out-patient and diagnostic department specialising in urology and uro-oncology. We offer rapid access to many diagnostic procedures, many of which are nurse-led. We are a fast-growing speciality and we focus on excellent patient experience, service delivery and customer care.
Although urology or out-patient nursing experience would be an advantage, it is not essential if you would like to join us. As a band 5 nurse you will be required to support the delivery urology clinics. You would be supported by Nurse Specialists and the Advanced Nurse Practitioner for Urology. Your job will mainly be at Epsom Hospital, but there may be some requirement to work at St Helier Hospital.
For further information please contact Joanna Cooper 01372735050/joanna.cooper5@nhs.net
Main duties of the job
Delivering direct patient care within the urology outpatient setting, assisting with specialized procedures like flexible cystoscopies, managing catheter care, and supporting nurse-led clinics such as Trial Without Catheter (TWOC) clinics, and prostate biopsies. Key duties include assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care under senior guidance, administering treatments, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, and maintaining accurate patient records to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
Working for our organisation
St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George's Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
