Job Description

Reporting to: Manager and deputy



Main responsibilities



Organise and plan work schedules taking into consideration residents' needs and priorities and provide highest possible levels of care by supporting/assisting Residents, when required, with all aspects of daily living.

Support the induction of new Staff Members and supervision of all Carers in all aspects of their work in the home.

Oversee the hydration/nutritional needs of residents, monitor skin integrity and ensure prescribed positional changes take place.

Ensure individualised resident documentation is completed and recorded accurately in a timely manner.

Assist Residents in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual). Provide supervision and attention when needed, ensuring Residents retain their comfort and dignity.

Develop strong communication between the other nursing teams.

Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained for the dying and the bereaved, in line with the company's policies and procedures supporting junior members of staff.

Participate in Staff and Client meetings as and when required - support nurses in care review meetings - CHC assessments.

Maintain professional knowledge and competence - develop areas of good practice for discussion with Manager/Deputy.

Attend mandatory training days/courses, and an additional course appropriate to resident's needs and extending knowledge to other team members improving implemented care/needs to residents.

Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Homes Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.

Report to the Deputy/Administrator any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.

Promote safe working practice within the Home including completion of accurate documentation and monitoring of documentation that reflects resident's health status.

Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to a third party.

Oversee the monitoring of Residents who may be confused and/or who have behavioural problems.

Oversee the promotion of continence and pro-actively refer to appropriate third party professionals as and when required.

Assist in the delivery of care for Residents who are dying or who have a progressive illness. Assist with last offices.

Complete, observe & review care planning needs for Residents, and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company's policies and procedures.

Carry out medication administration in line with Policy, including ordering, returns and reviews with GP and other health professionals.

Answer Nurse Call system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly, and pass on messages promptly.

Report on well-being of Residents and liaise with GPs and Support Managers etc.

Make Visitors feel welcome. Provide refreshments/assistance as and when required.

Ensure the Care Centre and treatment rooms are kept clean and tidy, in line with the Company's attention to detail philosophy.

Make sure that residents who need assistance at meal times are being supervised and assisted as needed by the care team.

Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Residents' personal and financial affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with Residents.

Ensure all holistic assessments are carried out when Residents are admitted to the Care Centre e.g. covering nutritional and incontinence issues, risk assessment etc.

Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or another.

Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Care Centre's Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.

Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Care Centre.

Notify the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.

Ensure the security of the Care Centre is maintained at all times.

Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.

Ensure all equipment that is used by you is clean and well maintained.

Liaise with external professional's e.g., social workers, GPs and other professionals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 21.80 per hour

Expected hours: 33.75 per week
