An exciting opportunity has risen for a band 5 staff nurse within our motivated and well established Interventional team. Due to the diversity of patients who attend for treatment the successful applicant will be caring for a wide range of patients of all ages from Emergency, Medical, Surgical and urological specialties.
This dynamic department includes a wide range of x-ray, CT and Ultrasound guided diagnostic and therapeutic treatments. The unique and varied nature of the specialty means that there is always something new and interesting to learn.
The Interventional Radiology team is formed of a small team of nurses that care for patients attending for interventional procedures pre, peri and post procedure making sure that the patient is safe, comfortable and supported.

Main duties of the job
The Interventional Radiology nurse will assist Radiologists during interventional procedures . The nurse will also care for the patient during the procedure, including the initial assessment, the plan of care, administering medication, checking pathology results, and reviewing the patient's medical history.
The post holder should have an attitude based on strong nursing values and an overall commitment to provide patients and their families with care that is first and foremost based on a culture of compassion, professionalism and respect.
They will proactively engage with patients, relatives and carers to seek their views, gain agreement and keep them informed about their treatment and care. They will demonstrate compassion by recognising and responding to individual needs in a warm, thoughtful, sensitive and helpful way.

The post holder will be responsible for effectively delivering skilled nursing care to patients using a systemic approach of assessing planning, implementing and evaluating to ensure a high standard of care. The post holder will assist in the admission and discharge processes for patients in line with local procedures.
They will proactively engage with patients, relatives and carers to seek their views, gain agreement and keep them informed about their treatment and care. They will demonstrate compassion by recognising and responding to individual needs in a warm, thoughtful, sensitive and helpful way.
Maintain registration, and nursing competencies, and comply with NMC code of Professional Conduct and related documents.
To be flexible to work within other areas or departments to meet the demands of the trust workforce model and changing service needs.
If successful this vacancy will require a Standard DBS check at a cost of 26.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of 16. Job description
