An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Department at Worthing Hospital
We currently see over 100,000 patients per year, with 25% of patients we see being children.
We are also a designated Trauma unit
The Emergency Department consists of 5 adult and 1 Paediatric Resuscitation bays. 23 Major spaces, made up of 15 trolleys and 8 chairs, x2 Rapid Assessment Bays, a 10 chair Ambulatory Clinical Decision's Unit. The ED also has its own mental health area supported by RMNs working closing with the mental health liaison service provided by Sussex Partnership NHS Trust. Worthing ED has a dedicated Paediatric ED, which provides a separate waiting area. A newly opened Front door Urgent Treatment Centre, for the treatment of Minor Injuries and Illness.
We are keen to recruit enthusiastic, motivated nurses, who have excellent communication skills and are able to work in a fast paced and at times challenging environment. Applicants should ideally have a minimum of 3 months acute experience but newly registered nurses will be considered.
We have an established induction and rotational programme through the department to support you, led by our Team Leaders and Practice Development Team. We follow the RCN National Curriculum and Competency Framework for Emergency Nursing, and are committed to supporting and developing all nurses, in order for each individual to flourish in their role and become confident and proficient Emergency Nurses.
To provide a high standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care as required within the Emergency Department.
To utilise a variety of strategies and communicate effectively with patients and their family/carers.
Liaise with the MDT, other departments within the Trust and pertinent agencies outside the organisation.
You will take responsibility for a specific area within the Emergency Department during a span of duty during absence of more senior staff.
Provide high quality evidence based clinical care to patients, in line with the Trust values and in accordance with professional regulations
Work with others to protect and promote the health and wellbeing of those in your care, their families and carers, and the wider community
To work in line with Trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidelines
To act as a role model communicating in line with Trust values, to patients, carers and the staff at all times.
Accept delegated responsibility for specific activities/areas from the senior nurse in charge, recognising and working within the limits of your competence.
Take every opportunity to continue to maintain and develop your own practice.
Facilitate students and others to develop their competence through supervision, teaching and role modelling.
