Manchester City Council has secured funding to provide a Staying Close offer across the city. The Staying Close Team work on the programme alongside the council's Leaving Care Team and other housing providers.
Some MCR care leavers report experiencing a 'cliff-edge' when they come to move on from care placements. Some report not feeling equipped to deal with the challenges of living independently which can result in care leavers facing challenges to move on or re settle. Some young people leaving care can feel disadvantaged not having strong support networks to help them with the transition to independent living.
If you are successful you will work within Manchester's Staying Close Team. Your aim will be to provide additional support to care experienced young people to improve accommodation outcomes, stability and reduce homelessness. You will work towards developing joint working between the leaving care, housing services and partner agencies.
Although primarily based at The Beehive, leaving care service, you will work across Manchester city, supporting young people prior to them securing a tenancy and on occasions when they are accommodated by other housing providers. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly with some evening/ weekend work required for the role.

Desirable requirements that would be useful in this role:
Previous relevant experience working in leaving care services, housing teams- working with 3rd Party Organisations,
Working towards/have a related qualification in social care setting.
