Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled steel fixer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling and installing steel structures, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of various construction techniques and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Duties

Fabricate, assemble, and erect metal structures such as beams, columns, and girders. Use hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and weld metal components. Perform heavy lifting tasks as required to position materials safely. Collaborate with other tradespeople on-site, including carpenters and masons, to ensure project specifications are met. Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols. Operate machinery as needed for specific tasks, including commercial driving of vehicles for transporting materials.

Requirements

Proven experience in ironworking or a related field is essential. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. Proficiency in welding techniques is highly desirable. Familiarity with carpentry and roofing practices will be advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 kg) consistently throughout the day. Valid driver's licence for commercial driving is preferred but not mandatory. A commitment to safety and attention to detail in all aspects of work is crucial.
