Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Steel Fixer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, and securing steel reinforcement bars (rebar) according to engineering specifications and safety standards. This role is vital in ensuring the structural integrity of concrete structures such as buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of reinforcement techniques and safety protocols to contribute effectively to our projects. Must have own tools, PPE and transport

Responsibilities

Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine rebar placement and quantities. Measure, cut, bend, and assemble steel reinforcement bars using appropriate tools and techniques. Secure rebar in position using ties, clamps, or welding equipment, ensuring proper alignment and spacing. Operate testing equipment such as ohmmeters to verify electrical continuity of rebar connections when required. Collaborate with the construction team to ensure timely completion of reinforcement tasks within project deadlines. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety standards at all times. Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly during all phases of work.

Experience

Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or similar role within the construction or civil engineering industry. Familiarity with reading blueprints, technical drawings, and reinforcement specifications. Knowledge of tools used in rebar fabrication including bending machines, cutters, and tying tools. Experience with electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided if necessary. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety compliance and quality standards.
