We are seeking the highest skilled and detail-oriented steelworker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in steelwork fabrication, managing the process and fitting of steelwork, with the ability to work with various materials and tools. As a skilled steelworker you will be responsible for preparing and assembling steelwork strengthening components, ensuring high-quality standards are met throughout the process. You will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of design and fabrication drawings and be able to lead a small team of steelwork labourers. You will have good communication skills and experience with liaising with clients and site management.
Responsibilities
Prepare existing structures for replacement steelwork i.e. rivet removal, steelwork preparation and minor surveying for new steelwork.
Fabricate and assemble steelwork according to specifications and drawings.
Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure compliance with standards whilst recording information onto inspection sheets/ data tablets.
Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to safety protocols.
Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
Utilise basic maths skills for measurements and calculations during fabrication processes.
Ensure timely completion of works inline with programmed deadlines.
Maintain a punctual team.
Qualifications
Proven experience in metal fabrication, (previous work on bridges desired)
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand technical drawings.
Basic maths skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
Experience in welding both MIG and MMA.
