The STEM Curriculum Leader is the curriculum team manager who holds the responsibility for planning and delivering to small groups of learners the curriculum for KS3 - KS4 Science and Maths. They will also manage a small staff team to create and lead practical Technology and Engineering Projects at KS3. They will ensure that each learner receives positive encouragement to develop their potential to the full, according to the stated aims of the provision. The STEM Curriculum Leader will be responsible for developing the quality of teaching in their areas of responsibility. They are responsible for staff and resource allocation, be it for individuals or developing groups.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities as Curriculum Leader
? Ensure appropriate and enriching Science and Maths curriculum at Key Stages 3- 4 is provided to meet the educational needs of learners so they can achieve their goals
? Manage day to day requirements such as examination entry, departmental staffing allocations, ensuring accurate records are kept and delegating as appropriate to ensure the efficiency of the department
? Hold responsibility for developing learner curriculums, and ensuring learner groups are allocated accordingly
? Identify future resourcing needs, training needs and aspirations for all allocated subject areas
? To contribute to the Centre Improvement Plan to ensure progress and attainment in Science and Maths remain a priority
? Communicate and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to ensure learners receive high-quality support and input to facilitate individual progression
? Promote a safe and engaging learning environment
? Be proactive in identifying training needs within the departments, ensuring that they are appropriately met, and that all members of each department are active in their own professional development
? Line manage all teachers within the named departments, holding regular meetings and conducting annual appraisals.
Responsibilities as a Teacher
? Negotiate the curriculum to meet individual learners' learning objectives and SEND needs;
? Support the learners to develop their skills and motivate them to want to learn more about the subject and beyond
? Monitor learner progress through regular making and feedback to inform future planning;
? Complete and submit registers at the start of every session;
? Complete termly reports and records of achievements as required for each learner;
? Provide feedback to parents and carers where necessary, and attend parent carer consultations to maintain positive relationships;
? Provide cover for other subject areas when appropriate;
? Support educational trips and outings as appropriate;
? Ensure up-to-date knowledge of your subject area;
? Positively contribute to the development of teaching and learning through collaboration and cooperation to deliver high-quality results.
