12.21 per hour Monday - Friday plus enhanced pay at weekends



Shifts available Monday - Friday between the hours of 8.00am - 8.30pm



An exciting opportunity has arisen at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. We are looking for 5 Sterile Services Technicians to join our friendly team. The Sterile Services department is at the heart of the Hospital; this critical service is responsible for the decontamination of medical devices for surgery and patient care. This is not a patient facing role but is very much patient focused and the patient is at the core of everything we do.

Your duties will include:



Ensuring that surgical teams receive safe, sterile, and fully functional instruments.

Providing a technical service by cleaning, inspecting, assembling, and sterilising instrument trays and packs for operating theatres and other clinical areas

Collecting used trays, instruments, linen, and waste from theatres, wards, and departments, and delivering them to designated decontamination areas

Prioritising and safely handling trays in line with service needs and infection control protocols

Operating decontamination equipment and adhering to strict PPE, health and safety, and manual handling procedures

Carefully inspecting, assembling, and packaging items in clean zones, ensuring correct labelling and readiness for sterilisation

Transferring instrument trays to autoclaves and processing them in accordance with manufacturer and ISO standards

Completing all checklists, traceability documentation, and quality assurance records accurately

Identifying and documenting non-conformities and reporting issues to senior staff

Communicating clearly and professionally with team members, theatre staff, and hospital departments regarding technical or operational issues

Supporting audits and helping maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment

Maintaining all equipment in line with departmental policies and escalating any faults or concerns promptly

You'll work within a managed and safety-focused environment, supporting continuous improvement, compliance, and patient safety at every step of the decontamination process.

Skills required:



Basic Maths & English qualifications (e.g., Functional Skills)

Willingness to complete a Sterile Services-related Apprenticeship/Training program

Understanding of infection control and manual handling

Experience using sterilisation equipment or working in healthcare environments (desirable)

Ability to retain technical procedures and work independently (desirable)

To be able to handle manual handling duties up to 13kg.
