Foyle Port is the primary marine gateway for the Northwest of Ireland region for commerce and tourism. The port plays a vital role in keeping the region open for business for both European and International Trade.
We have opportunities for Stevedores/Dockworkers to work on a casual basis within the Port to meet occasional operational demands. The role involves manual labour, unloading ships' cargoes, working in the holds of ships and working outside in all weather conditions on the dock within a busy port environment. Successful candidates will be working within a large team and must be available at short notice and able to work a 12-hour shift if required. The rate of pay is 105.99 per day (plus overtime when applicable).
Candidates must have:
A minimum 6-month relevant work experience in manual labouring
A high degree of flexibility to meet the demands of the job as it is an 'as and when' needed role
The ability to follow instructions and be a team player
Desirable Criteria
A minimum of 6 months experience in an industrial environment, operating plant and machinery
A minimum of 6 months experience operating a bobcat or forklift
Full current driving licence
A willingness to take part in training courses and learn to operate various types of machinery
Have an understanding and knowledge of health and safety
