Shield Foods UK - a leading supplier of premium, traceable seafood to the UK foodservice sector - is seeking a proactive

Stock Controller & Planning

professional to lead, organise, and optimise warehouse stock management, materials coordination, and daily planning.
You'll take ownership of stock accuracy, material flow, and daily coordination between goods intake, storage, kitting, and dispatch.

What You'll Do



1. Stock Control & Inventory Management



Oversee Goods Intake recording and stock control processes to ensure data accuracy, traceability, and compliance with company and customer requirements.

Verify incoming goods against purchase orders and suggest process improvements. Maintain 99.5% stock accuracy and on-time-in-full (OTIF) deliveries. Maintain accurate stock levels and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with Warehouse and supply chain and procurement teams.

Work closely with the Supply Chain Executive to maintain accurate stock data, monitor stock availability, and ensure materials are planned in line with production and customer demand.

Work closely with the Fresh Fish Buying Team to ensure stock data and variances are accurately reported to support informed purchasing decisions.

Monitor inventory movements, implement stock control measures, and reduce waste.

Maintain and enforce the company's Stock Policy, ensuring it is applied consistently in compliance with operational efficiency, financial control, and food safety standards.

Ensure warehouse layout, stock location accuracy, product identification, and segregation of species and allergens are implemented and maintained in compliance with BRCGS Food Safety Standards.

Conduct regular and year-end stock takes, system adjustments, and audits. Investigate and resolve stock variances, implementing corrective actions where necessary. Accurately complete documentation and update inventory systems. Compile reports, investigate discrepancies, and support internal audits. Record and investigate stock write-offs and report recurring issues to management.

2. Material Coordination, Kitting & Traceability



Lead daily warehouse kitting activities to ensure all raw materials, packaging, and components are accurately prepared and issued for production.

Track material usage and wastage daily, ensuring accurate recording in Datos Seasons and reporting variances to Operations and Finance.

Coordinate raw materials and packaging to support production targets while maintaining compliance with food safety, BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety, and quality standards.

Lead the completion of full product traceability exercises, ensuring all materials, packaging, and finished goods are accurately tracked from intake to dispatch in Datos Seasons.

Respond to daily stock-related queries to avoid production delays. Collaborate with Logistics to ensure timely booking and receipt of raw materials. Support delivery management and handle late load situations when required.

3. Communication, Collaboration & Team Development



Lead and coordinate stock control and warehouse operations across sites. Foster a positive, high-performance culture within warehouse and planning functions. Train new team members on inventory systems (e.g.,

Datos Seasons

) and stock control procedures. Communicate effectively across departments to ensure operational consistency. Support cross-functional collaboration between Operations, Technical, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams.

4. Compliance, Quality & Continuous Improvement



Drive compliance with Health & Safety, HACCP, and BRCGS standards on material handling and stock. Operate Counterbalance and Reach forklifts for daily warehouse duties.

Support Lean, warehouse pick location optimisation, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Monitor and report on waste, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Lean and 5S principles for workplace organisation.

About You



Proven experience in stock control, warehouse operations, or production planning (FMCG or food manufacturing preferred).

Certifications in Food Safety, Health & Safety, and FLT License required,

Valid Counterbalance & Reach Truck licences
