Castell Howell Foods is Wales' leading independent food service wholesaler, servicing the length and breadth of Wales, the Border Counties and the South West of England. We currently have a vacancy for a Stock Investigator based at our Cross Hands depot.Main Duties and Responsibilities:The Stock Investigator plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our inventory management system. This role requires someone highly organised who can proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies in stock levels, minimise losses due to inventory discrepancies, and maintain efficient stock control processes. The Stock Investigator will collaborate closely with various departments to uphold our commitment to excellence in food distribution and customer satisfaction. Duties include:Implementing a cycle-based process for stock counting across all locationsPhysically counting stock and supporting the warehouse team in achieving count cycle objectivesProducing management reports related to stock adjustmentsConducting detailed analysis of stock administration reports to provide insights for storage strategy decisionsInvestigating and explaining discrepancies in stock levelsPerforming daily, weekly and monthly checks for stock rotation and shelf-lifeMaintaining paper records for audit purposesRepairing and maintaining damaged stock, while implementing measures to reduce costsCollaborating with Cash & Carry, Telesales, and customers to handle damaged or short-dated stock at reduced costsMaintain knowledge of stock for purchase ledger and customer service queriesAssisting buyers by identifying slow-moving or short-dated stockQualifications and Skills:Highly organised with a keen attention to detailAbility to work proactively and independently to investigate and resolve stock discrepanciesStrong analytical skills to build and interpret stock administration reportsExcellent communication skills to collaborate with various departments and stakeholdersFamiliarity with stock rotation and inventory management principlesBasic knowledge of auditing and record-keeping proceduresProblem-solving skills to identify and implement measures for reducing stock damagesProficiency in MS Excel and other relevant software What we offer:A full-time position working Monday-Friday 07:00-16:3030,580.87 per annum25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
