To oversee the daily operations of Subway franchise, ensuring exceptional
customer service, compliance with Subway brand standards, efficient staffing, financial
performance, and adherence to UK food safety regulations. The Store Manager will lead by
example, driving sales growth, maintaining inventory controls, and training staff to uphold
Subway's quality and operational policies.
Duties
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management:
Ensure the store operates in strict compliance with Subway's Franchise Agreement, UK
health & safety laws, and local hygiene regulations (Food Standards Agency/EHHO).
Oversee food preparation, portion control, and stock management to minimise waste
while maintaining freshness and quality.
Conduct daily checks on equipment, refrigeration, and cleanliness to meet Subway
audits and statutory requirements.
2. Staff Leadership & Training:
Recruit, train, and supervise team members in line with Subway policies and
Subway training programs (e.g., University of Subway).
Schedule staff rotas to meet labour targets while ensuring adequate coverage for peak
periods.
Foster a positive workplace culture, resolving conflicts and conducting performance
reviews.
3. Financial & Sales Accountability:
Monitor store P&L, cash handling, and banking procedures to achieve sales targets and
control costs.
Analyse sales reports to identify trends, implement promotional strategies, and
maximise profitability.
Manage inventory, place supplier orders, and conduct weekly stock checks to prevent
shortages or overstocking.
4. Customer Service & Brand Standards:
Maintain Subway's "Fresh Forward" image by enforcing uniform standards, store
cleanliness, and efficient service.
Address customer complaints professionally and implement corrective actions to
improve satisfaction scores.
Ensure compliance with Subway's marketing initiatives (e.g., promotions, loyalty
programs).
5. Compliance & Administration:
Complete all required documentation (e.g., payroll, HR records, temperature logs)
accurately and on time.
Ensure all staff hold valid food hygiene certifications and right-to-work documentation.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years' experience in QSR/fast-food management (preferably in Subway or
a similar franchise).
Level 2 Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 3 months).
Proven track record in meeting sales targets, cost control, and staff development.
Strong understanding of UK employment law, health & safety, and food hygiene
standards.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills (English fluency
required).
Right to work in the UK with eligibility for Skilled Worker Sponsorship (if applicable).
