We are seeking a full-time, experienced Store Manager to lead our retail team in Oxford. Our store specialises in high-quality gifts, British souvenirs, and heritage apparel including Harris Tweed and cashmere. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, operational discipline, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.
We welcome applications from former Poundland Store Managers, Area Managers, or candidates with similar high-volume retail experience. We recognise the operational rigour and team leadership skills developed in such roles and value their relevance to our business.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of store operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and retail standards
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team with a focus on customer engagement and sales excellence
Manage inventory, merchandising, and visual presentation to maximise appeal and turnover
Implement sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets
Conduct regular team briefings and performance reviews
Handle scheduling, payroll coordination, and administrative reporting
Foster a collaborative and professional working environment
Maintain clear communication with senior management regarding store performance and operational challenges
Candidate Requirements
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Store Manager in retail, with references from previous employers
Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in a customer-facing environment
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Organisational discipline with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
Experience in merchandising, sales strategy, and stock control
Administrative competence in rota planning, reporting, and compliance
Bilingual or multilingual abilities are highly desirable to support our international customer base
Preference given to candidates with experience in high-volume retail environments such as Poundland or similar
