Summary:

The Restaurant General Manager is responsible for leading all day?to?day operations at Sabir's Grill, ensuring excellent guest service, smooth restaurant running, strong team performance, and profitable business results. The role covers staff management, customer service, food quality, hygiene, inventory, and basic finance.

Key responsibilities

Operations & guest experience

- Oversee daily operations of Sabir's Grill, including opening, service, and closing.

- Ensure every guest receives friendly, fast, and professional service.

- Handle guest complaints or special requests and turn problems into positive experiences.

- Maintain high standards of food quality, portioning, presentation, and speed of service.

People management

- Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members (front of house and back of house).

- Prepare weekly staff rotas to match business needs and control labour costs.

- Train, coach, and motivate staff to follow Sabir's standards, SOPs, and values.

- Hold regular briefings, give feedback, manage performance, and handle basic HR issues (discipline, attendance, conflict).

Sales, cost and finance

- Monitor daily sales, average spend per guest, and key KPIs.

- Control food, packaging, and labour costs by correct ordering, portion control, and efficient scheduling.

- Check and approve invoices, petty cash, and cash?up reports.

- Work with the owner to meet weekly and monthly sales and profit targets and suggest improvements.

Inventory and suppliers

- Order food, beverages, and consumables in line with par levels and sales trends.

- Check all deliveries for quality, quantity, date, and pricing; report any issues.

- Reduce waste and manage stock rotation (FIFO) to protect profit and food safety.

- Build good relationships with key suppliers and suggest new products when suitable.

Health, safety and hygiene

- Ensure full compliance with local food safety, health and safety, and fire regulations.

- Keep all areas of the restaurant (dining area, kitchen, storage, toilets) clean, safe, and well maintained.

- Make sure all staff follow hygiene standards, allergen procedures, and temperature checks.

- Keep accurate records (cleaning schedules, temperature logs, incident reports, training logs).

Brand, marketing and community

- Maintain the Sabir's Grill brand image, menu standards, and service style at all times.

- Support and execute local marketing activities, promotions, and special offers.

- Help manage online presence (Google, delivery platforms, social media) by responding to reviews and feedback professionally.

- Build relationships with local businesses, schools, and community organisations to drive repeat business.

Administration and reporting

- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports (sales, labour, stock, incidents).

- Ensure all licenses, certificates, and inspections are up to date and displayed as required.

- Maintain organised records for staff, suppliers, maintenance, and compliance.

- Report key issues, risks, and opportunities to the owner and propose solutions.

Required skills and experience

- Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager / General Manager or similar role in hospitality.

- Strong leadership and people?management skills with the ability to build a positive team culture.

- Excellent customer service skills and a calm, confident approach on the floor.

- Good understanding of restaurant operations: FOH, BOH, delivery/takeaway, and POS systems.

- Basic financial skills: reading reports, controlling costs, and planning labour.

- Solid knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety standards.

- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle pressure during busy periods.

Desirable qualities

- Passion for grilled food and casual dining.

- Experience with delivery platforms and takeaway operations.

- Local market knowledge and ideas to increase sales and guest loyalty.

Job Types: Full-time, Zero hours contract

Pay: 12.21-13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 40 per week
