The Store Manager is responsible for the effective day-to-day running of the Tredz retail store, ensuring commercial success, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer experiences. The role leads all in-store activities including team management, customer service, workshop services, stock control, and financial performance.
This position plays a key role in developing store strategy and translating company-wide goals into local store-level success.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & People Management
Lead and manage the in-store team of sales colleagues and workshop technicians.
Deliver effective staff scheduling and ensure appropriate coverage across all store areas.
Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching, support, and development.
Conduct regular performance reviews and support colleague engagement.
Create and maintain a positive team culture that reflects Tredz values.
2. Customer Experience & Service
Ensure all customers receive expert, friendly, and consistent service across all interactions.
Handle escalated customer complaints or issues in a professional and solution-focused manner.
Ensure service standards are understood, trained, and maintained by all team members.
Monitor customer feedback and implement changes to improve satisfaction and loyalty.
3. Sales, Marketing & Business Growth
Drive store revenue through effective implementation of sales strategies and local initiatives.
Collaborate with the wider marketing team to execute promotions, campaigns, and local events.
Actively promote workshop servicing and upsell services and accessories.
Maintain strong product knowledge and ensure the team is well-informed about current ranges and services.
Optimise in-store merchandising and promotional displays for maximum impact.
4. Inventory & Stock Control
Maintain appropriate stock levels through accurate forecasting and ordering.
Monitor sell-through rates, seasonal ranges, and stock turn to avoid overstock or stockouts.
Lead regular stocktakes and ensure compliance with audit and reporting requirements.
Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve inventory or delivery issues.
5. Financial Management
Manage the store's operating budget, controlling costs and monitoring profitability.
Analyse store performance data and report against sales targets and KPIs.
Make informed decisions on staffing, pricing, and promotions to support financial goals.
Identify opportunities to improve margin and reduce operational waste.
6. Store Operations & Standards
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe retail and workshop environment.
Ensure all facilities and equipment are regularly maintained and safe to use.
Comply with health & safety, GDPR, safeguarding, and other regulatory requirements.
Continuously improve operational processes and implement best practices.
Person Profile
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Proven experience in a retail management role (preferably within cycling or specialist retail).
Strong team leadership with a focus on coaching and development.
High levels of customer service and communication skills.
Competence in financial and operational management.
Working knowledge of stock systems, merchandising, and workshop services.
Passion for cycling and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge with others.
