Job Description

The Stores Supervisor is responsible for the efficient management of all equipment, tools, consumables, and PPE across the business. This role ensures that stock levels are accurately maintained, equipment is properly inspected, and all storage and issuing processes meet the company's operational, safety, and compliance standards. The Stores Supervisor will oversee the day to day operations of Head Office site, stores and yard, ensuring that all plant, equipment, and materials are controlled, maintained, and distributed effectively to support ongoing projects and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities



Equipment & Stock Management



Identify, receive, and catalogue all new equipment including plant, electrical tools, rope access kits, and related items. Maintain and update all relevant databases and inventory management systems, ensuring data accuracy and traceability. Oversee stock control and reorder levels to prevent shortages and support project demands. Manage Goods In / Goods Out processes including all delivery and return notes for purchases. Ensure proper storage, maintenance, and organization of all items within the stores and yard area. Pick, prepare, and issue equipment for specific jobs using detailed requisition sheets.

PPE & Consumables Management



Issue and record the distribution of company branded PPE to staff, operatives and subcontractors. Check, store, and maintain PPE and consumables, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. Manage branding, marking, and allocation of all new PPE and kit items.

Plant & Equipment Maintenance



Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of all plant and equipment to ensure items are fit for use. Manage the quarantine area for defective equipment, ensuring all faults are reported and followed up. Coordinate equipment calibration schedules and maintain calibration records. Oversee PAT testing for all office and site electrical equipment. Carry out cleaning and maintenance of power tools, electrical leads, wire cables, winches, blocks, and fittings.

Compliance & Safety



Ensure compliance with regulations relating to rope access kits, ladders, rigging gear, power tools, electric leads, cradle motors, jet washes, and other bespoke equipment. Manage COSHH documentation and chemical maintenance for all hazardous substances stored on site. Conduct regular housekeeping and Health & Safety walkarounds of Head Office site, yard and stores to maintain a safe and efficient workspace. Perform van audits to ensure all company vehicles carry the required PPE and equipment in good condition.

Waste Management & Logistics



Oversee waste management processes at Head Office site, stores and yard, including bins, skips, and recycling. Coordinate collections and deliveries as required to support operational needs.

Skills & Qualifications



Proven experience in stores, warehouse, or equipment management, ideally within an industrial, construction, or rope access environment. Strong understanding of stock control systems, equipment compliance, and maintenance procedures. Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills with high attention to detail. Working knowledge of Health & Safety, PAT testing, and COSHH regulations. Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management systems. Full UK driving licence (preferred).
