We pride ourselves on efficient project management and exceptional craftsmanship. We are looking for an organized and proactive Storeman to manage our central stores and support our site teams.
Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable Storeman to oversee the efficient running of our workshop stores and yard. You will be the central point of contact for materials, plant, and equipment, ensuring that our project managers and tradespeople have exactly what they need, when they need it.
While this is a logistics and inventory focus, we are looking for someone with practical knowledge of the trade. You will be handling timber, hardware, and specialist joinery tools, so the ability to identify materials and understand their application is key.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Monitor stock levels of building materials (timber, sheet materials, consumables) and raise purchase orders for replenishment.
Goods In/Out:
Receive deliveries, check against delivery notes for accuracy/damage, and organize materials safely within the warehouse.
Tool Control:
Manage the sign-in/sign-out process for power tools and plant. Perform basic visual inspections to ensure equipment is safe and operational before issuing.
Site Support:
Prepare "kits" or material loads for specific project sites based on requests from Project Managers.
Manufacture Support:
Assisting with manufacturing, either with the painting of timbers or light joinery works that
Workshop Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the stores and yard areas, adhering to Health & Safety regulations.
Waste Management:
Organize the separation and disposal of waste materials and recycling.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in a storeman, warehouse, or yard operative role, ideally within the construction or merchant industry.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage stock records (manual or digital).
Physical fitness and the ability to lift/move materials safely.
A valid UK Driving License.
Desirable (Trade Knowledge):
Joinery Knowledge:
Prior experience in joinery or a strong familiarity with wood products, timber grades, and joinery tools is highly preferred.
Note: While trade knowledge is required, we do not require a Blue CSCS Skilled Worker card. We are looking for "trade awareness" rather than a fully qualified site joiner.*
