Due to increasing demand for our services we are looking for a proactive Stores Operative to join a small team and ensure the smooth running of the stores department. We are looking for a driven individual who can work in a professional, organised manner within a fast-paced electrical contracting environment.
The role
This will be an interesting and varied role, where you'll be handling the day-to-day activities within the stores department, alongside being the point of contact within the business for material queries. You will complete a range of tasks including processing material purchases, liaising regularly with suppliers and other departments, preparing materials for electricians, maintaining correct stock levels, and helping to develop our ways of working for the future.
The key responsibilities for this role will include:
Receiving all deliveries and checking the goods received
Placing material orders
Negotiating with suppliers to get the best prices on materials and services
Monitoring product availability and chasing orders
Preparing purchase orders for all materials, equipment, and other items needed for the company's production process
Effectively resolving suppliers and staff material queries
Organising materials ready for electricians to take to site
Taking care of materials not required on site and ensuring materials are returned
Processing returns for unused/faulty items and chasing credits from suppliers
Organising stores and keeping detailed records of stock levels
Organising and managing plant hire/ tools
Managing the maintenance/calibrations of equipment
Organising Waste/recycling
Essential Requirements:
Proficient in IT and Microsoft products
A self-motivated approach and the ability to work unsupervised
Hardworking, enthusiastic and reliable team player
The ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal
The confidence to negotiate with suppliers
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
The ability to work well under pressure, in a fast-paced environment
Well-disciplined around health and safety
An appetite to learn new skills and products
Desirable
Previous experience working in an electrical wholesalers would be an advantage or good electrical product knowledge
Some experience of working in a warehouse or stock environment
Key information:
Normal working hours for the role are Monday to Friday 07.30-16.30
The ideal candidate would live in or around the South Lakes/North Lancashire area
The job will be based at our offices in Kendal on Beezon Road
Training will be provided where required.
