To assist with the garage stores operation. Complying at all times with health and safety legislation and Metroline's policy statement on health and safety.
To ensure that a rapid response is made to requests for stock issues from garages.
Main responsibilities
Loading and unloading of deliveries
Picking stock requested by garage personnel
Provision of stock and consumables to garage locations
Identifying parts & sources of supply
The maintenance of proper stock records including the proper recording of all orders receipts and issues;
The physical control and security of stocks including reporting and investigating instances of physical stock shortfalls, and abuse;
Liaison with Technical and Purchasing staff to pursue warranty claims and resolve other quality issues;
To ensure all activities within the garage store comply with relevant legislation including the 1974 Health & Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Act 1989;
Essential criteria
Demonstrable experience of working within a parts stores.
A clear appreciation of the consequences of "stockouts" in an internal engineering stores to the smooth running of the business;
Previous exposure to computerised stock control systems and be competent in their application;
Excellent administrative skills including good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Office and Excel;
Full UK Driving Licence;
Valid Fork Lift Truck Licence;
Competencies & skills
Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly and at all levels;
Excellent attention for detail;
Ability to operate as a team player;
Ability to work well under pressure;
Ability to manage own workload effectively and work to strict deadlines;
Ability to use initiative and identify solutions when a problem or difficult situation arises;
Must be able to demonstrate credibility to build professional relationships with both employees and managers;
Able to build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders/suppliers;
An understanding/appreciation of the service requirements and the management of day to day operational issues;
Hours of work
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
