You will be working in a combined role on the shop floor and within our goods delivery, goods in, and warehousing areas: unloading deliveries, checking off and storing stock, and assisting the retail team in picking and displaying stock.

Role responsibilities:
Retail Sales:
You will be working in our Garden Sundries team - merchandising and selling a variety of indoor and outdoor gardening products, from tools and fertilisers through to water features and statues
Tasks will include stocking up, cleanliness and driving sales through excellent customer service
Delivering excellent customer service, confidently answering customer queries face to face and on the telephone
Operating the till system (EPOS - electronic point of sale), processing cash and card payments, arranging deliveries
Labelling and pricing
Maintaining stock levels in selling areas and merchandising
Helping customers with enquiries, finding products etc.
Being friendly, polite and helpful to customers at all times
Store Person:
Maintaining the storage warehouse
Acting as banks person for incoming deliveries
Loading and unloading vehicles (using a forklift and by hand)
Checking in deliveries accurately
Maintaining the computerised stock database
Storing goods on shelves and racking until required
Picking goods from picking lists and deliver to the correct location in the Garden Centre, and assisting in stocking up
Ensuring the warehouse is clean and tidy
Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed
Keeping records of goods transfers in the garden centre
Delivering a high level of service to all the departments of the garden centre
This is not an exhaustive list and you are required to be flexible in your approach to carrying out your duties. This may change from time to time to reflect changes in the Company's approach to a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
Experience of working in a retail environment as well as a warehouse and storage facility - essential
Good communication and customer service skills - essential
Knowledge of warehouse practices and checking off procedures - essential
Ability to lift heavy objects e.g., goods inward, fetching individual items from storage, stocking up - essential
Counterbalance forklift truck certificate - essential
Knowledge of standard retail procedures such as merchandising and stocking up, customer service, cleanliness and health & safety - essential
Knowledge of gardening and garden products is desired but not essential
You'll need to work four week days, plus a weekend day (various options can be discussed at interview)
You'll need to work most bank holidays, but will be given a day's holiday in lieu
Good standard of English and Maths
Smart appearance
Full UK Driving License is required
