We own and operate several airborne sensor suites, including survey-grade aerial photography and hyperspectral sensors. By integrating and analysing this fine-resolution data alongside other imaging and non-imaging sources, we deliver innovative environmental solutions such as remote tree health assessment, invasive species detection, and habitat mapping.

About the Role
The Insight Team has proven its capability and is now poised for significant expansion across products, sectors, and geographies. To achieve our ambition of becoming a market leader, we are seeking a Strategic Business Development Manager to drive growth and shape our future. This role will:

  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within remote sensing, geospatial, and environmental risk management sectors.
  • Represent 2Excel at industry events, conferences, and exhibitions, maintaining our reputation for scientific credibility and integrity.
  • Lead event strategy and planning for UK and European markets.
  • Manage the Insight CRM system to ensure accurate and actionable data.
  • Monitor global industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments (including crewed and uncrewed platforms e.g. RPAS/UAVs) to inform strategic priorities.
  • Design and deliver targeted sales and marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborate with internal project teams to share insights and align on opportunities.
Whilst this role will be based at our Head Office in Sywell, the Insight Team enjoy a hybrid working pattern, that enables our people to split their time between home and the office subject to operational need. The successful candidate should also expect to travel regularly to industry events both in the UK and internationally.
About You
You are an experienced Business Development professional with a proven track record in B2B and B2G environments, ideally across multiple markets. You combine commercial acumen with strategic vision and thrive in complex, fast-moving sectors.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing growth strategies.
  • Strong understanding of market analysis, financial modelling, and competitive positioning.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Skilled negotiator who can translate client needs into tailored solutions.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and data-driven decision-making tools.
  • Environmental/Geography sector experience.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of government procurement processes and tendering.
  • Sector experience in remote sensing, GIS, Earth Observation, spatial analytics, or mapping technologies.
  • Exposure to industries such as Rail, Highways, Environment, Energy, or Agriculture.
  • Ability to engage with technical teams on IT platforms, including AI applications.
You'll be self-motivated, results-driven, and collaborative, with the resilience to succeed in a dynamic environment.
