The Purpose and responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead the development of detailed strategic timetable plans which deliver EMR\xe2\x80\x99s medium- and long-term strategy and the strategic vision and specification set by the Operational Planning and Transformation team.
  • Work closely with the Department for Transport, Transport for East Midlands, Network Rail, Midlands Connect, GBR and other stakeholders.
  • Jointly develop a roadmap of future timetable changes with key stakeholders and Network Rail including supporting business cases which consider financial, social and environmental sustainability
  • Supporting engagement with Transport for East Midlands, Midlands Connect and other sub national Transport bodies, Department for Transport, Network Rail and other operators to understand their strategic priorities for the regions served by EMR
  • Manage approval of the future strategic timetable roadmap as part of the longer-term strategy development process with Department for Transport
  • Build strong relationships with strategic train planning teams within other TUKG TOCs
  • To effectively influence key stakeholders, particularly Network Rail, ORR and EMR\xe2\x80\x99s partners, ensuring that EMR\xe2\x80\x99s needs and interests are protected as early as possible in key decision-making processes, so that optimal outcomes are achieved.
  • Work closely with Infrastructure Interface and Partnership Manager to represent EMR and its strategic business interests at various industry forums including Programme Delivery Groups, other steering groups and timetable outcome groups.
  • To work closely with the Head of Business Planning and Permanent Timetable team to develop business proposals, and convert the emerging strategy into a coherent delivery plan alongside timetable production.
  • To liaise with the Train Planning Manager and the Lead LTP Planner to ensure effective handover of strategic timetable changes into business-as-usual processes.
  • To work closely with the Infrastructure Interface and Partnership team and relevant EMR stakeholders to evaluate impact of changes of infrastructure to the timetable, and effectively capture benefits and disbenefits to the timetable within the decision making process.
Qualifications and Experience Required for the role:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Computer literacy required in common applications such as Word and Excel, knowledge of Train Planning systems (e.g., ATTune and Voyager Plan, Pluto, TSDB, Tracis) highly desirable.
  • Strategic Planning knowledge and ability to drive EMR\xe2\x80\x99s and Network Rail\xe2\x80\x99s strategic planning priorities from aspirations to reality.
  • General knowledge of East Midlands railway geography, the train services and rolling stock operated by EMR.
  • Excellent communicator and team player, with strong oral persuasive and letter-writing skills
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of building excellent working relationships within and outside the company, particularly at peer group level.
  • Demonstrable Commercial and Rail Operational (or transferrable) acumen
  • Railway operational knowledge to understand interfaces between EMR\'s operations, traincrew, fleet and planning functions, with a view to producing high quality, optimised plans.
  • An understanding the growth aspirations of the region and considers the part the railway can play in this through train service development.

EMR has a hybrid working policy, which is applicable for this role with time split between home and on site working. Should you wish to work full time on site this is also an option.
