The Opportunity



The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority is seeking to appoint a Strategy and Policy Manager. The Combined Authority (CA) has a bold vision to become a trailblazer for devolution and achieve substantial growth for the economy of York and North Yorkshire. Key to unlocking these ambitions will be setting the strategic direction for the CA, alongside strong partnership-working at a local, regional and national level.





Reporting to the Head of Strategy, Policy and Planning, this role will drive innovation, creative thinking and alternative ways of delivering on these outcomes.






Additionally, you will:


Lead the creation of key strategies and plans, including the Local Growth Plan and Strategic Investment Strategy. Develop evidence-based policies and investment propositions to attract funding and deliver inclusive economic growth. Oversee research, data analysis, and maintain a robust evidence base to inform decision-making. Build strong partnerships with local authorities, government departments, universities, and businesses. Manage a team of specialist professionals and ensure high performance.



What you will bring




Significant experience in economic strategy, policy development, and project management. Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to interpret complex data and present clear, compelling insights. Knowledge of funding processes and economic development at local, regional, and national levels.
