(Expectation that you will attend an office 2 days per week)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week/flexible days and/or hours (Mon-Fri)
Salary: 38,500 - 57,500 Depending on Experience

The Role





We're looking for a Policy & Strategy Manager to join our supportive and collaborative Policy, Strategy & Economics team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the Bank's strategy and policies to improve access to finance for smaller businesses across the UK.


You'll be part of a team that:Advises government on SME finance policy. Leads the Bank's day-to-day relationship with government, including input into budgets and fiscal events. Shapes our corporate strategy and planning processes. Ensures our products and programmes are designed to meet the needs of small businesses.
This is a role where your insights, creativity, and problem-solving skills will directly influence how we support businesses to start, grow and thrive.

What You'll Do:
Develop evidence-based policy and product proposals to support SME access to finance. Work closely with colleagues across economics, product teams, and external stakeholders including government officials. Contribute to briefings for senior leaders, including the CEO and Chair. Build strong relationships with stakeholders through clear, inclusive communication. Support the delivery of our Banking Arm strategy, particularly through debt programmes and guarantees.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be especially valuable:Policy development or understanding of how public policy is made. Knowledge of how government and Whitehall operate. Managing complex projects. Understanding the challenges SMEs face when accessing finance. Producing clear, evidence-based advice for senior decision-makers.
Skills and Behaviours:Strong analytical and problem-solving approach. Ability to influence and build consensus across different stakeholders. Collaborative and open working style. Excellent written communication, with the ability to simplify complex ideas. Confidence in building relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance priorities.
