The Council's Street Care Service is responsible for the cleanliness of the Borough of Chelmsford. This is a wide ranging Service geared toward improving the quality of the environment by improving litter standards, removing the nuisance created by fly-tipping, graffiti and fly-posting and improving feelings of safety and security to create a sense of care and respect for the place in which people live, work and visit.

A key role in these activities is the operation of our fleet of mechanised road sweepers which are responsible for dealing with over 1300km of roadways. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to play a key role in helping us ensure that the infrastructure of the borough that the Council is responsible for, is kept to the best standard possible.

Based at our Freighter House depot in Springfield, the post holder would normally be expected to work the following hours at 37 hours per week: Monday to Thursday 06:00am - 2:00pm, Friday 06:00am to 1:30pm

It should be noted however that some flexibility will be required, including occasional early or later starts, or the requirement to work on a week-end or bank holiday.
